Good Friday for a GREAT reason.

Without thinking, we all know that this holiday is one of the most overlooked holidays in regards to the REAL reason we celebrate. It's a little upsetting to me to see people who don't realize the true meaning of such Christian holidays. This day, of all days, is one that has the most meaning to me. Without my Savior sacrificing his life for me, I would have never experienced forgiveness and eternal life. It's almost unfathomable. While reading my Bible and doing some devotions this week I came across this and just had to share. These are not my exact words but I have paraphrased this a little.

Here is one of the most inspiring stories ever to be told:

When Jesus was only 33, He was condemned to the death. During those days, crucifixion was one of the worst ways to die. Only the worst criminals were condemned to be crucified. It was even more dreadful for Jesus, unlike other criminals condemned to death by crucifixion, Jesus was to be nailed to the cross by His hands and feet

Each nail was about 10 inches long. The nails were driven into His wrist. Not into His palms as we usually see. Through medical knowledge, we know there's a tendon in the wrist that extends to the shoulder. The Roman guards knew that when the nails were being hammered into His wrist, that tendon would tear and break,
forcing Jesus to use His back muscles to support himself so that He could breathe.

His feet were also nailed together. Forcing Him to support Himself on the single nail that held His feet to the cross. (Oh my, the pain as I'm reading this is hurting me. I can't imagine how he felt) Jesus could not support himself with His legs because of the pain. He was forced to alternate between arching His back then using his legs just to continue breathing.

I CAN NOT imagine the struggle, the pain, the suffering, the courage.

Jesus endured this reality for over 3 hours. Yes, over 3 hours! Can you imagine this kind of
suffering? A few minutes before He died, Jesus stopped bleeding. He was simply pouring water from his wounds. From common images we see wounds to His hands and feet and even the spear wound to His side... but do we realize these wounds were actually made in his body, they aren't just a picture. It really happened. A hammer driving large nails through the wrist, the feet overlapped and an even larger nail hammered through the arches, then a Roman guard piercing His side with a spear.

But before the nails and the spear Jesus was whipped and beaten. The whipping was so severe that it tore the flesh from His body. The beating so horrific that His face was torn and his beard ripped from His face. (And you think plucking your eyebrows is pain!)
The crown of thorns cut deeply into His scalp. Most men would not have survived this torture.

He had no more blood to bleed out, only water poured from His
wounds. The human adult body contains about 5-6 liters of blood. Jesus poured every bit of His blood; He had three nails hammered into His hands and feet; a crown of thorns on His head and, beyond that, a Roman soldier who stabbed a spear into His

side. All these without mentioning the humiliation He suffered after carrying His own
cross for almost 2 miles, while the crowd spat in his face and threw stones (the cross was almost 60lbs).

Jesus had to endure this experience, to open the Gates of Heaven, so that we can have free access to God. So that our sins could be FORGIVEN.. All of them, with no exception!

To think, this man would sacrifice his life and endure so much pain is truly unfathomable to me. I mean, he took the sins of literally EVERYONE who was and who was to come. This is why I love Him with all that I have! He made the ultimate sacrifice for me!

So the next time I think its a sacrifice to give up something while complaining about it, I'll think twice. Nothing will ever be as great a sacrifice than God giving his Son to come and not just die but suffer for the ENTIRE world.... past, present and future.

Absolutely Drained

Words can not even explain how crazy our life has been lately. In the past three weeks life has been a mad whirling mess! The pastor of our church, who happens to be a close friend, got married three weeks ago and we were involved in that process, David's sister got married a week ago (which I was the wedding planner decorator coordinator for) and my youngest niece had a first birthday party today! With all of that, this is how I look and feel...

I just want a weekend to relax to ourselves. Im thinking a beautiful relaxing beach weekend is in our future! That ALWAYS helps me relax. I love the beach and listening to the waves and the birds and feeling the sun shine on my face. It reminds me of how absolutely, incredibly amazing our Creator is! I'm often astounded by the beauty of nature and it brings me happiness knowing that if I were the only person on this earth He would have still done it all, just for me!

With that said, I need to get some rest! Calling it an early night and headed to bed...zzzzz

14 Days of Love Notes.... Day 14- Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!
XOXO

This long awaited day has finally come! It's on the top three list of my favorite holidays and
I love getting to spend it with my amazing husband and
show him how much I love him!

I completed the last of my Love notes today...

Day 14

So, here is what I did...

I got one balloon for every Valentine's Day that we have spent together, dating and married. Attached to each balloon I had a note with a memory from the Valentine's Day that represented the year. There were 7 balloons because, including today, we have been together for 7 Valentine's Days. Also, on the bed were 73 hearts because that is the number of months that we have been together since we started dating in January of 2006.
(My senior year of high school)

Wow! It's crazy to think its been that long. It almost feels like just a little while ago we were younguns spending are weekends at the beach and endless nights on the phone. Man, time flies!

After I did this little decoration thing in our room, it was time for me to take Mya to the vet.
David still wasn't home for work and I wanted to be home when he got there to see his reaction. I had to leave to go to the vet appointment but when I returned home, this is what I came home to...

David had decorated the entire living room and dining room for me!
It was AMAZING! Every little gift had a little saying to go along with it and they all meant something special. My favorite was the Bath Salts and lotion, with a promise of a 1 hour massage!!!
I'm so excited to have some much needed relaxation time =)

It's been a very fun experience the past 14 days and I was definitely not expecting anything I received from David today. He never fails to let his creativity surprise me! I have had so much fun leaving little Love Notes around the house. Just to be spontaneous, I may do something similar every once in a while!

Happy Valentines Day to all of you!
xoxo

14 Days of Love Notes.... Day 11, 12 & 13

Day 11

"You make my heart wiggle!"

(Thank you IKEA jello molds for helping me on this one!)

Day 12

I had to save this one for Sunday because David ALWAYS asks me for gum while we are at church. Now he has his own and he can stop taking mine!
"I'm stuck on you!"

Day 13
"I'm shooting for some brownie points."

Ok not really but I have been craving brownies
for about a month and it was the PERFECT opportunity
to make brownies that are oh so delicioso! =)

This was the one Love Note that got the biggest
laugh out of David.
He really did laugh out loud on this one.

I have enjoyed this little series and I am SUPER STOKED for what is to come tomorrow!
It's my favorite day of the year!
(And I get to spend it with my favorite person)

14 Days of Love Notes.... Day 8, 9 & 10

Sorry for the delay in posting about my daily Love Notes. Its been a crazy, hectic, insane week. Despite the business of it all, I am still on a mission to put out my Love Notes everyday.

Day 8

All of this, turned into this....

Of course, I made one for myself too =)
If I wouldn't gain 3 lbs everytime, I could eat one of these EVERY day!
I love me some strawberry shortcake!

Day 9

Since I was pulling out my Valentines Day decor so that I could
make the house look all lovey dovey. I happened to find this little book,
"Why I Love You 100 Reasons"

It happened to be that I was using Reisen's as part of my Love Note yesterday
and I wanted to incorporate this handy dandy little book.
I gave this to David on 2/14/2009 as part of a Vday gift.
It was crazy to look back in it and read it again.
It already listed reasons in the book but I added to some of them a little.
This is probably one of my favorite gifts I have given David.

Day 10

Well, today was just a lunch packed for work, with nothing but a heart.
Let's just say I had to use a play on words today.
One simple word.

That's all for now! Only 4 more days left of Love Notes.
I cant wait for the biggest day to come on Tuesday!
Time to get some rest and finally sleep in tomorrow =)

14 Days of Love Notes.... Day 7

OMW... I can't believe my favorite holiday
is only 7 days away!
I know, you may say it's so overrated but I love Valentines Day because I love the one I'm married to and I love showing him my love. This year is going flying by so quickly. I mean, what happened to January?

Today's Love Note was a fun,
quick (not so healthy) breakfast.

David LOVES donuts
No, seriously he could eat an entire dozen, probably two dozen all by himself.
Thats basically 12+ donuts. (That would mean an instant 10lbs added straight to my hips if I ate that many)
I don't know how he does it!

No, I did not give him 12+ donuts.... only two!

Only 7 more days of Love Notes left and I'm a little sad it will come to an end.
I may just keep it going occasionally throughout the month!
You'll have to wait and see =)

14 Days of Love Notes... Day 6

David has been wanting to get some Pistachios for a long time. Every time we have been to the grocery store lately, they have been too overpriced for our budget. I had a coupon for some from the paper last week and I knew it would be the perfect Love Note for him today. Especially since he was craving those nasty things. I am NOT a fan of pistachios... can you tell?!?!

I'm excited for him to see what I
have in store for tomorrow.
I think it's super cute and I know it is
something he will enjoy!

14 Days of Love Notes... Day 3, 4 & 5

Wow! What a crazy weekend it has been. Despite the craziness, I still managed to continue with the Love Notes. I'm determined to finish all 14 days!
Without further to due...

Day 3
"I've got my eyes on you...
Drive safe, you are precious cargo!"
I started off the day with a Love Note
at 6:30 in the morning.
Put a smile on his face on the way to work!

Day 4
Another morning note, but not so early this time!
And I was letting him know that HE makes ME smile! =)

Day 5

David is a BIG candy lover so I thought I'd leave
a Love Note with candy involved!

2.02.2012

14 Days of Love- Day 2

Day 2 of the "Love Notes" continued.....

(The little heart will be seen throughout
the remainder of the "Love Notes")

Shower notes... "Hey Handsome... I love you!"

Simple and sweet for the day. David loves to come home and take a nice warm shower after work everyday. I was excited to put a BIG cheesy smile on his face again today when he open the shower curtain to take a shower!

***You may think this whole idea is a little corny and not something you could ever see yourself doing but even in our short year a half of being married, I've learned that you have to let loose and have a LOT of fun or else your marriage will be dry and boring!

I mean, God tells us to love whole-heartedly and
my whole heart is full of joy for my husband so
I'm going to be joyful in showing him
my never ending love!

14 Days of Love- Day 1....and a new addition to our family

So, I've been more addicted than usual to Pinterest lately.

#1- Because it's my favorite month of the year and
L-O-V-E Valentines Day
and
#2- Well, because its Pintererst and who doesn't get addicted =)

I decided to make this "I love you because..." board.
I found it HERE.

It's adorable and I thought we could use a little something extra in our living room that would be suitable for more than just Valentines Day.

Now for the 14 Days of Love project that I am doing this year... I found the idea on Howdoesshe.com

I love that my husband and I are celebrating all of these new "first married" holidays together in our own place and we can make things extra special. I've decided to do something a little extra special for him every day until Valentines Day...hence the 14 Days of Love! They aren't necessarily amazing, awesome, incredible things but just little things to let him know
I love him veryyyyyy much!
Today was the first day and my goal is to blog
about it everyday!

Today was nothing but a few slices of oranges and a little note to go with them! I told you it's not something extravagant, just fun :)

"Orange" you glad we have each other?

This next picture is my favorite thing about the day!

He was so thrilled to have a fun and delicious snack when he came home from a hard day at work! I am so grateful for my AMAZING husband and the effort he puts into providing for our family.

Oh yeah, speaking of family.... we are expanding ours!!!

No babies, yet! We are still holding off on that one for a little longer.
But we bought a puppy last week and she is the newest member of our family!
She is a little Chihuahua and I absolutely adore her!

Teeny tiny little thing! There was a moment a few Saturday nights ago when David said "Lets get a dog!" I couldn't pass up the chance or argue with him. I asked him again to make sure he was 100% sure about this statement he had just made. He was! So I began my search for the perfect puppy and didn't go to sleep that night until I found her. We went the next day after church to get her and fell in love! I thought training a puppy would be difficult, but I was proven wrong.
Mya is just as smart as her mommy and it was easier than expected!
She is so playful and FULL of energy!

*We brought her along on a photo shoot we went to this past weekend and they captured an adorable photo of her that I just have to share :)

Moving on and growing up!

What a crazy end of 2011 and beginning of 2012!

I finally finished college after 5 long years of being an undecisive college student. And now the thoughts of grad school run through my head. Yes, I want to further my education and get a higher degree but it will be a long road because I can’t take classes full time. I know God will make a way, He always does! I couldn't have made it through without these people in my life! My husband especially, for all his love and support for me, my parents and my amazing girl friends!

 (I love this picture!!!)

So.... I’ve been trying to get in touch with my inner creative person and actually start MAKING all of the 6,273 things I’ve been pinning on Pinterest. It truly is an addicting thing, but I love finding so many creative ideas and DIY projects that are soooo much cheaper than buying the real thing. I feel more proud of myself for being able to create things that make our cozy little apartment a bit more like home =) I made this cute little verse to hang in our dining room!

Speaking of home, I am beginning to miss seeing my parents everyday. I wish we lived a bit closer so we could have mother-daughter shopping days and dinner dates more often but as for the time we have now, I guess 2 hours isn’t that bad after all. Having a good relationship with my parents has been so important to me. I cringe at the teenagers who are consistently back talking and being so rude to their parents. If they could only understand the things their parents go through for them and the sacrifices they make then maybe they would be so stinking rude! (Sorry, its one of those topics for me that gets me going…lol) I pray everyday for my future children that God would give them a heart of gratefulness and respect. I really don’t want to have to lay the smack down on my son or daughter if they talk back to me!

Well, on a healthier note….I’ve been fasting and eating healthier lately and I found this awesome idea on where else but….. (drumroll please) …….. PINTEREST!!!!

Homemade baked apple chips = deliciousness….yummy

  (Originally from Delighted Mamma's blog)
Check her blog out, lots of great DIY jewelry and awesome recipes

Just good ol’ Gala apples and a sprinkle of cinnamon
(My hand may have shook the cinnamon a little to hard on this batch but they were delish!)

Be on the look out for more amazing healthy snacks in the future!

Here’s to a happy, healthy, and heartfelt year full of blessings!!!
